18 Sep ELE USAL Indonesia Officially Opens Its Doors in Bali
A new chapter for Spanish language and culture in Indonesia begins in Denpasar, bringing the academic tradition of the University of Salamanca closer to the Indonesian community.
Denpasar, Bali | September 18, 2026
On September 18, 2026, ELE USAL Indonesia officially opened its doors in Denpasar, Bali, marking the arrival of ELE USAL in Indonesia and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Spanish language education and cultural exchange in the country.
The opening brings together students, collaborators, members of the educational community and special guests to celebrate a milestone that connects two countries through a shared interest in language, education and culture.
As the official Spanish language academy of the University of Salamanca in Indonesia, ELE USAL Indonesia brings a structured approach to Spanish learning rooted in the academic tradition and international experience of one of Spain’s most recognised universities.
But the new school has been created to be more than a place to learn a language.
A meeting point between Indonesia and Spain
From its new home in Denpasar, ELE USAL Indonesia aims to become a meeting point between Indonesia and Spain, creating opportunities for people to discover the Spanish language while engaging more deeply with the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
Language has a unique ability to bring people closer. Learning Spanish can open new ways to communicate, travel, study, work and build relationships across countries and cultures.
Today, Spanish has more than 630 million potential speakers worldwide, while more than 24 million people are studying it as a foreign language. Its international presence reflects not only the cultural richness of the Spanish-speaking world, but also the growing opportunities available to those who can communicate in Spanish.
For learners in Indonesia, these opportunities can take many forms: preparing for future studies, strengthening professional skills, connecting with Spanish-speaking colleagues and communities, travelling with greater confidence, or simply discovering another culture through its language.
ELE USAL Indonesia is here to support that journey from Bali.
Salamanca meets Bali
The opening of ELE USAL Indonesia also brings together two places with very different histories and identities, but with a shared capacity to bring people from around the world together.
Salamanca has a centuries-old academic tradition. Bali is an international meeting point where Indonesian culture connects every day with people, ideas and experiences from across the world.
ELE USAL Indonesia brings these two worlds closer.
Our goal is to offer students in Indonesia a Spanish learning experience shaped by academic quality, cultural understanding and genuine human connection. The classroom is an important part of that experience, but learning a language also means discovering new perspectives, gaining confidence and becoming part of a wider international community.
Celebrating this new beginning together
The official opening would not be complete without the people and institutions who have supported and joined us for this important moment.
We are especially honoured to welcome Mr Fernando Burgos Sainz, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Spain, Mr Ida Bagus Made Suadnyana, Head of the Spanish-speaking Division of Bali’s Tour Guides, and Pak Made Sabda, President of Indonesia Inbound Tour Operator Association, Bali Chapter.
We sincerely thank them for joining us and sharing this milestone with the ELE USAL Indonesia community.

Our gratitude also goes to the University of Salamanca, whose academic heritage and support are at the heart of this project, as well as to the entire ELE USAL team and everyone who has contributed to making the opening of the school possible.
Every new school begins with classrooms, books and lessons, but its real story is written by the people who become part of it.
Today, that story begins in Bali.
A new journey begins
The opening of ELE USAL Indonesia represents the start of a long-term commitment to bringing Spanish language and culture closer to the Indonesian community.
We look forward to welcoming students with different backgrounds, ages and ambitions, from those discovering their first words in Spanish to those who see the language as part of their academic, professional or international future.
Most importantly, we hope ELE USAL Indonesia becomes a place where people meet, learn and create lasting connections between Indonesia, Spain and the wider Spanish-speaking world.
Our doors are officially open.
We are delighted to begin this journey together and to welcome you to ELE USAL Indonesia.
¡Bienvenidos!
